Widerøe's DHC-6s were the biggest aircraft to serve the airport of Førde - Øyrane. This airport was located very close to the city in an industrial area, with a short runway parallel to the fjord and a long "taxiway" on the road through the industrial estates to a small terminal. However, not even an instrument landing system could be installed in these narrow surroundings, and the airport was closed for fixed wing aircraft in August 1986 when Bringeland, the new airport, was opened. Twin Otter LN-BEZ was active as G-BVVK with Loganair in 2022. This photo is copyright © Stephan Barth, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
