Widerøe, Northern Norway, and the Twin Otter were synonymous from 1968 to the end of the last century. Most Twin Otters were retired in 1995, but one soldiered on serving the small coastal community of Båtsfjord which had a gravel strip. When WF945 landed at Båtsfjord on the evening of March 31, 2000, the last commercial de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter flight in Norway had come to pass.
