Withdrawn from service and the registration taped inside in the last windows, C-FCRE is prepared for lease to VASP (Viacao Aerea Sao Paulo SA) starting in June 1991. Registered PP-SON and N42783 when the aircraft returned , it would be christened "Spirit of Canadian" and decorated with hundreds of signatures of Canadian employees. Among the first aircraft retired after Canadian was purchased by Air Canada, this DC-10 was sold to Finova Capital in July 2007, ferried to Marana, AZ and broken up in 2003.
