Operated by Air Trips. British Empire Air Displays air display held at Westwood Heath near Coventry. Between 12,000 and 15,000 spectators saw an accident to Miss Pauline Gower flying her Spartan Three Seater, G-ABKK, the aircraft was written off that afternoon when it was hit by Lionel Gray in his Avro 504N, G-AECR. They were taking off at the same time but in different directions. The Avro landed safely but the Spartan crashed in a wheat field and Pauline Gower was badly injured. The aircraft was not repaired and written off. This photo was added on 30 September 2024, and has since been viewed 55 times. |
