Between 12,000 and 15,000 spectators saw an accident to Miss Pauline Gower flying her Spartan Three Seater, G-ABKK, the aircraft was written off that afternoon when it was hit by Lionel Gray in his Avro 504N, G-AECR. They were taking off at the same time but in different directions. The Avro landed safely but the Spartan crashed in a wheat field and Pauline Gower was badly injured. The aircraft was not repaired and written off.
