The prototype Sopwith Dragon which was converted from the 6th Sopwith Snipe prototype. The changes were an ABC Dragonfly radial instead of a rotary and a longer fuselage to compensate for the heavier engine. An RAF order for 300 Snipes was converted to Dragons. But ongoing problems with the ABC engines resulted in 200 engineless airframes in storage. A small number were delivered to the RAF they were never issued to a squadron.
