Loaned by Canada Aviation and Space Museum. E6938 was built by Nieuport and General with c/n 0131 as part of a batch of 100 that the company were contracted to build. Nieuport's entire production run was not delivered until after the Armistice, meaning that '938 saw no active service. The last record of this Snipe's service is a move to No.37 Squadron in January 1919.

The prototype Sopwith Dragon which was converted from the 6th Sopwith Snipe prototype. The changes were an ABC Dragonfly radial instead of a rotary and a longer fuselage to compensate for the heavier engine. An RAF order for 300 Snipes was converted to Dragons. But ongoing problems with the ABC engines resulted in 200 engineless airframes in storage. A small number were delivered to the RAF they were never issued to a squadron. The Snipe entered Squadron service shortly before the end of WWI and the type remained in service until 1926. This superb though non-airworthy replica has recently arrived in the UK from New Zealand. It is destined for the RAF Museum but is on short-term loan to the Shuttleworth Collection.

The Snipe was introduced just before the end of WWI as a successor to the Sopwith Camel the and proved to be a very effective fighter that remained in RAF service until 1926. This replica was built in New Zealand using an original engine and many original parts and is painted in the colours of FO Dermot Boyle who served with No.1 Sqdn in Iraq in 1926. He later went on to become founding Chairman of the Trustees for the RAF Museum.
