Once an electronic warfare aircraft, but after that task was taken over by the EA-6B Prowler, some of the Skywarriors (nicknamed Whale), where converted to KA-3B and soldiered on as an aerial refueler. Tactical Aerial Refueling Squadron (VAK) 208 "Jockeys" ('AF-52x') was part of the US Navy Carrier Air Wing Reserve (CVWR) 20. The squadron was established on 30 July 1970 as a Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron (VAQ) 208 and was redesignated to VAK-208 on 1 October 1979. It was disestablished on 30 September 1989. This 147657 was retired to AMARC with inventory code 2A0118 in September 1989.

Carrier Air Wing TEN ('NM') was established in 1986 but due to budgets cuts the CVW was disestablished with most of its squadrons in 1988. It only made one cruise on board the USS Independence. 160126 was assigned to Sea Control Squadron (VS) 35 "Blue Wolves", a squadron that survived the cuts. VS-35 was last attached to CVW-14/NK when it was deactivated at NAS North Island (CA) on 31 Mar'05. Here a rare picture of a VS-35 Viking with that short-lived 'NM'-tailcode. Alameda saw all six S-3As of VS-35 for a fuel-stop on 9 Sep'87. 160126 was last used by VX-30 and retired in Feb'11, fate unknown

Carrier Air Wing TEN ('NM') was established in 1986 but due to budgets cuts the CVW was disestablished with most of its squadrons in 1988. It only made one cruise on board the USS Independence. 160560 was assigned to Sea Control Squadron (VS) 35 "Blue Wolves", a squadron that survived the cuts. VS-35 was last attached to CVW-14/NK when it was deactivated at NAS North Island (CA) on 31 Mar'05. Here a rare picture of a VS-35 Viking with that short-lived 'NM'-tailcode. Alameda saw all six S-3As of VS-35 for a fuel-stop on 9 Sep'87. 160580 was retired to AMARC on 19 Aug'04, inventory code 2S0064.
