Built for the US Navy in 1954 as Bu 138122. One of a few Trojans transferred in the late '60s to the US Army as a flight test chase plane, but retained its Navy serial. Allotted to the National Museum of Naval Aviation in 1984 but sold to the civil market and registered N28RF on 6 November 1985. Shipped to Australia in March 2008 and registered VH-FNO(4) on 13 August that year. Assembled at Toowoomba and currently resident in NSW, it's seen here at the Wings Over the Illawarra 2016 airshow.

This aircraft is actually a hybrid. When VH-ALI, ex cn DHA436/A17-394, was withdrawn from service in 1959, Airwork P/L at Archerfield combined major parts with other Tigers and re-registered the re-built aircraft using their own cn as VH-AWH. It was later re-registered again as VH-SNJ, then VH-IVN. It was acquired by manufacturer De Havilland Australia and rebuilt again, being re-registered VH-DHV. Still owned by DHA but operated by HARS.

Jeff Trappett's magnificent new Sabre at WOI 14. Jeff later flew it in a stiff crosswind that kept almost everybody else on the ground. The CAC Sabre was powered by a RR Avon with additional thrust and had significantly improved hitting power with two 30mm Aden cannon. Delivered to the RAAF on 28 Jan 1960. Allocated to the Indonesian TNI-AU as F-8606 but crashed Denpasar, Bali, on delivery in Feb 1973. Retained by the RAAF until acquired by Jeff in 1982. First flight after long-term rebuild 21 Sep 13.

A blast from the past! This aircraft was originally registered OK-OHC but came to Australia in 1962, the only one of its type ever to do so. After a spell on charter operations, it was acquired by Ansett-ANA. It spent 1966 in New Guinea operating with Ansett-MAL. Withdrawn in 1967, it passed through a succession of private hands until ending up at HARS for restoration and re-painting in this attractive original scheme. Seen here at Wings Over the Illawarra 2011.

Built new for the RAAF and delivered to 10 Squadron, Townsville, 24 May 1962. On 6 December 1977 it made the last RAAF Neptune flight, from Townsville to Amberley, for disposal. In June 1978 it was sold to the Chewing Gum Field Museum, Tallebudgera QLD, and trucked to the Museum. In 1989 it was dontated to the Australian Flying Museum and moved to Archerfield the following year. In 1992 the registration VH-NEP was reserved, but never taken up - confusingly not the currently-registered VH-NEP.
