19(F) Sqn Hawk in the static park at the 50th anniversary of JaboG 32 at Lechfeld. 2008 marks the 70th anniversary of 19(F) Sqn being equipped with the Spitfire at Duxford, making 19 Sqn the first RAF squadron to be equipped with the famous Spitfire. To mark this anniversary 19 Sqn have had repainted one of their Hawk jets in a camouflage scheme as worn by the Spitfires during World War II, a job well done and a very nice idea indeed.

On 11 June 1999 hit obstacles when taking off from an airstrip at Kukes, Albania, slowed and veered to the right, suffering severe damage to its right wing before stopping. Fuel leakage from the damaged wing ignited and the subsequent fire destroyed much of the aircraft. No injuries to the 15 crew and passengers.

XH498 was involved in a very embarrassing incident when on October 25, 1959, it clipped an embankment while attempting to land during the opening of Wellington's new international airport. The port landing gear was left dangling. XH498 diverted to Ohakea where it landed safely albeit with the port gear collapsed. Repaired it continued in service until 1967.
