This Lodestar was initially displayed at Surrey, BC, but when in 1996 the museum moved from there to Langley, BC, the aircraft ended up here, on temporary display. In Oct 2007 it was dismantled and trucked to Abbotsford, BC for a long-term cosmetic restoration by students of the University of the Fraser Valley Aerospace Centre, which was expected to take 15-20 years. When finished, the aircraft will join the rest of the museum's collection at Langley, BC, Canada. Note the Trans-Canada Air Lines - TCA logo on the nose.

Delivered to Trans-Canada Air Lines in 1957. Renamed Air Canada in 1964. Preserved at Rockcliffe since 1969.

CF-TKI was withdrawn from use in 1969 and used for structural tests at Cambridge, UK.

Over Ottawa. This was the second Canadair C-4 and retains the unpressurised fuselage and circular windows of its Douglas DC-4/C-54 ancestor. It fitted with four Merlins. Served TCA from 11 November 1946 until transfer to the Royal Canadian Air Force as 17518 on 20 April 1949. Obtained from Canadair Ltd over 60 years ago.

CF-TKH was sold in France as F-BTOU in 1972.

Pre-delivery shot of TCA's second DC-4M-2 over Montreal. It wears the short-lived name "Cornwallis" over the rear pax door and on its fin. Obtained from TCA 60 years ago.

Operated by Trans Canada Airlines from new in May 1957 until donated to the National Museum of Science in November 1969. "Preserved" since that date - here in the middle of a late March snowdrift.

Delivered to Trans-Canada Airlines in 1954, CF-TGE was restored to it's former glory in 2007 for display at Seattle's Museum of Flight.

I was happy to see that the Museum of Flight just keeps getting better and better. This Connie was a pretty spectacular addition to the Airpark since my previous visit.

Moved to lawn in front of the museum in January 2015, where it is currently on display.

This 1957-build TCA Viscount is now held in the Reserve Collection of the Canada Aviation Museum. Note the oval door, characteristic of the -700 series planes.

I can hardly put into words what a thrill it is for me, a guy captivated by classic commercial aviation, to visit the Airpark at the wonderful Museum of Flight. This stunning Connie has now taken her place there alongside probably the most famous airliner of all tme, N7470.

TCA's L-1049E is at Heathrow's eastern maintenance area - taken through an open window in the public tour bus that ran from Heathrow North. CF-TGG served TCA only from 20.07.54 until crashing on approach to Toronto on 17.12.54.

This Viscount was delivered to Trans Canada Airlines March 28, 1957. Withdrawn April 1974, it was placed with Harrison Airways in Vancouver January 1977. Sold to the Pacific Vocational Institute in 1980 for training. Retired by the school in 1995, the aircraft was used for fire fighter training until sold to the British Columbia Aviation Museum for one dollar. Transferred to Victoria, the airliner has undergone a restoration to it's original color scheme for display.
