This 1985 built Mi-8T was deployed by its Moldavian owner Ayr Aviation to Chad. The company supported the European Union mission in Chad and the Central African Republic (CAR), EUFOR Chad/CAR, in logistical flights.

Maintenance continues, also while on detachment. Sometimes technicians have to be very creative to keep aircraft in the air, as not all spare parts are on stock as at home. This Puma was deployed from France to Chad as part of ALAT Det Tchad in support of the European Union Force Chad/CAR, abbreviated as EUFOR Tchad/RCA.

During ALAT Det Tchad, maintenance continues to helicopters at Abeche. The French used a small hangar were they tinkered. This Gazelle, 4172, was written-off in an accident in France on 9 February 2016.

The 37.dlot, a badge is seen at the nose section of the helicopter, is nowadays designated as 2.Eskadra Śmigłowców. This 605 fo the Lotnictwo Wojsk Ladowych (LWL, Polish Army Aviation) was deployed together with two other Mi-17s to Chad in support of European Union Force Chad/CAR (EUFOR Tchad/RCA) operations in 2008.

The Aviation Légère de l'Armée de Terre (ALAT, French Army Aviation) ran a detachment consisting of Gazelle and Puma helicopters at Abeche, named ALAT Det Tchad, that provided reconnaissance and close air support to the European Union Force Chad/CAR mission in eastern Chad. This ADA took of from the French part of the tiny platform at Abeche.
