A former Connecticut National Guard Beechcraft Seminole

Delivered as an L-23D. Redesignated as a U-8D in 1962. Stored at Davis-Monthan AFB in 1979. To the Pima Air Museum in 1981.

On celebrity row. Stored at Davis-Monthan AFB with park code UB023 in 1978. To the Navy inventory with park code 3U004 in 1980. Back to US Army inventory with park code UB109 in 1982. To Wichita State University, Wichita, KS in 1987. Registered as N50WU. To JW Duff Aircraft at the former Denver-Stapleton Airport, CO by 1996. Mr Duff died in 2013 and it was scrapped when his yard was cleared in 2014.

The Twin Bonanza was originally built for the US Army as a utility transport. Much larger than it's Bonanza namesake, the fuselage was widened by a foot, lengthened and deepened. Bonanza wings were attached outboard of the engines to a new strengthened center section. Built in 1960, N117WB is what some consider the ultimate version of the design. Modified by Swearingen Aircraft to an Excalibur 800, new direct drive Lycoming engines in streamlined cowlings boosted speed by 60 - 70 mph (aided by a new nose cap, sloped single piece windshield and gear doors that cover the wheels when retracted).

Arrival date 7 May 1979. Received inventory code UB068. Received a new inventory code (allocated to the USAF) UH003 on 5 August 1981. Departure date 4 November 1991 to Western International, Tucson (AZ) and then scrapped

This Twin Bonanza rolled of the production line in 1962.

Photographed on display outside Donna's Bar, (since closed), in downtown Huachuca City, Arizona, co-ordinates 31.64173, -110.33843. Traces of its old MASDC code UB061 are still visible on the rear fuselage, and the data plate confirmed the type as L-23D. Looking on Google Earth the aircraft was still in place on imagery date January 2015, but had disappeared by the time of imagery date May 2019.

The Ancient Aeroport Militaire (Bowen Field) still held remnants of the former Haiti Air Force, after it became the largest camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) following the earthquake in 2010. The entire camp was cleared by 2013. Ex N300D and still marked as such on the tail, this Beech B50 was found in a sorry state. It is the second use of serial 1269 and is likely an impounded drug runner. It wears both COHATA titles on its tail, as well as an Haitian air force roundel on the rear fuselage.

This Twin Bonanza was previously N186AA and was exported to Norway in July 1962. It is tucked away right at the back of the Aeroseum tunnel system.
