VH-BPL had a long history in Australia, starting with the Royal Australian Air Force during World War II. It went to Qantas after the war and used on services in Papua New Guinea, then an Australian territory. It passed to Trans- Australia Airlines when it replaced Qantas in the territory and then to Air Niugini on independence. It entered the Australian register again in 1982, as VH-BPL. It is now with the Qantas Founders Museum, at Longreach, Queensland, restored as a static exhibit in its original Qantas markings (VH-EAP).

Whilst Dakotas were commonplace at this airport at that time, a visit from a BIA Cargo one was unusual

Ex Department of Civil Aviation (as VH-DMV and VH-CAO) before it was bought by Brain and Brown as VH-BAB in 1962. It was withdrawn from use in 1979 and preserved. It has worn fake USAAF colours since the 1980s and most recently displayed at Caboolture, Queensland.

The cockpit of 'Drag-em-oot' is seen carrying the aircraft's brand new registration, N473DC. It's ex N5831B.

Ex VH-TAH. Withdrawn from use in 1968 and later sold. Ended up with Jetair.

DDA's second DC-3 making a low pass over runway 32 (now closed), at the end of its delivery flight from Malta, in the company of ill-fated sistership PH-DDA. It already carries the name "Doornroosje" just below the cockpit window (with "Sleeping Beauty" on the right side). This DC-3 would not fly again for 12 years due to a very thorough restoration. When it did, on 7 May 1999, the Pyramid Airlines colours in this photo (ex SU-BFY) had been replaced by a nice retro Martin's Air Charter livery. The aircraft was withdrawn from use in October 2012, and initially stored at Amsterdam-Schiphol. In September 2016 it was dismantled and transported by barge to the Aviodrome Museum at Lelystad.

Built as C-47A. Converted to Wright engines in 1947. Withdrawn from use in 1966, scrapped in 1968.

Ex P2-ANS with Air Niugini. Delivered in 1976, it was withdrawn by Masling the next year and later sold to Setair.

Brain and Brown changed its name to BBA Cargo. VH-BAM withdrawn from use in 1975

Converted to Wright R-1820 engines 1950. Withdrawn from use 1968 and sold in Cambodia as XU-FAH

Ex VH-EBW. Airline renamed BBA Air Freighters

Owned by AirNorth from 1984 until sold in 1989
