A pair of Comair DC-3s at Skukuza in January 1987. The Dakota in the background is ZS-DRJ. ZS-FRM first flew in 1946 and was built uncompleted C-117 parts. She joined Det Danske Luftfartsselskab as OY-DCU and was named "Ulf Viking", a name she continued to carry when DDL became a constituent member of SAS. She went to Linjeflyg as SE-CFU and later Austrian as OE-LBN. Moving to South Africa, she joined Comair's fleet in 1968. She ended her life in Africa serving in Zimbabwe as Z-WRU and later Kenya as 5Y-BIL. In the late 1990s she was damaged in Nairobi and written off. Photographer unknown

Sverigeflyg's only DC-3. Operated charter flights from March 1965 to July 1967 and was a frequent sight at Southend. Ex OH-VKC, OD-AAV, LR-AAV, F-BAXA, NC34974. Sold to Kar Air in July 1967 as OH-VKC. To High Chaparral amusement park in Sweden in 1986 and was derelict at Hillerstorp, Sweden by 1996. Cockpit preserved in Finland.

Ex Z-WRU, registered July 1993 and stored HKNW since Jan 1996 when it was apparently written off but details unknown.

The airplane was part of a large group that toured the US to commemorate the end of WW2.

Post-war built DC-3D "St Colmcille" served Aer Lingus from new in February 1946 until sale to Nepal in July 1964. She is on short finals to Manchester Ringway's now closed 3300 ft subsidiary Runway 20, inbound from Dublin.

Postwar-built DC-3D "St Kieran" of Aer Lingus flies the company flag on arrival from Amsterdam (Schiphol). The aircraft was damaged beyond repair at Birmingham (Elmdon) on January 1, 1953.

HB-IRB has just arrived on the schedule from Kloten and airport staff push the steps towards the small pax door of this postwar-built DC-3D. Served Swissair from March 1946 until sale in September 1964 as LN-LMK.

Smartly clad passengers make their way to Sabena's postwar-built DC-3D - distinguished by the small passenger door of this late variant. OO-AUM wears the early postwar scheme of large registration and no white top. Fur coats and felt hats are in evidence. Obtained from Sabena over 60 years ago.

One of 28 DC-3D's completed by Douglas in 1946 using uncompleted C-117 parts. HB-IRC served Swissair from April 1946 until May 1969, latterly with SLS. It is arriving at Ringway on a dull winter's late afternoon on the four-hour scheduled flight from Zurich Kloten.
