Built as US Navy R5O-5, to civil registry N3968B, N1210. Converted to 18-08. To N1210L, to N505R. in 1984 it went to the March AFB Museum, where it was falsely painted as USAAF 833538. Later repainted in correct US Navy colours.

Written off on December 14, 1977, at Fort Lauderdale after being blown into fuel piping by a passing DC-8. It had been impounded for drug smuggling.

Nicely preserved at the March Field Air Museum

Little information could be found about this aircraft, one of 31 Lodestars to see service with US airlines. It had a mishap at El Paso, Texas on 23 April 1941. A Lockheed flight log book shows that it was repaired by June 1941. Another source says it is a Model 18-10. Photo from: Kansas City Public Library (Missouri)

Since this photo taken the aircraft has been moved to Abbotsford for a rebuild and then it is to be displayed at the Canadian Museum of Flight's main location at Langley.

Lockheed Lodestar in the South African Airways museum at Rand Airport

Part of the Canadian Museum of Flight collection. This Lodestar was initially displayed at Surrey, BC, but when in 1996 the museum moved from there to Langley, BC, the aircraft ended up here, on temporary display. In Oct 2007 it was dismantled and trucked to Abbotsford, BC for a long-term cosmetic restoration by students of the University of the Fraser Valley Aerospace Centre, which was expected to take 15-20 years. When finished, the aircraft will join the rest of the museum's collection at Langley, BC, Canada. Note the Trans-Canada Air Lines - TCA logo on the nose.

Built for United Airlines in 08.40 as NC25630. Impressed by USAAF in 1941 as C-56D 42-53504. To RAF in Africa as AX756 and to BOAC as G-AGCN. Civilianised in 03.54 as N9933F. Sold to Fieldair as ZK-BVE in 03.58 as a sprayer. Retired in 12.69 after an accident and donated to MOTAT.

Delivered to the USN in February 1943 as BuNo 12473. Surplused by the Navy in 1949, the aircraft passed through many owners before being stored at Greybull, WY in 1973. Ferried to the museum in 1983 where it is currently on display. The aircraft still has the Howard modifications it received many years ago, such as the squared wingtips. Was previously falsely painted as USAF "833538". It is seen here shortly before being painted in US Navy markings as 12473.

Delivered to SAA in March 1941 as ZS-ATC but served the SAAF as 1375. Returned to SAA in 1945. Sold to EAAC as VP-KHZ in April 1950. Sold to the USA in 1952 and seen passing through Blackbushe on its long delivery flight. Destroyed by fire as CF-FYR on 26 December 1954.
