A anonymous C-20G visiting Kabul International Airport (KAIA) in miserable weather conditions. In the background you can see the Hund Kush mountain range, but the highest part is cover by sand dust, fog and low clouds. The VIP-aircraft, operated by VR-51, brought some high level commanders to the nearby International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) headquarters.

The US Navy decided to unmark their C-20, C-37 and C-40 fleet as much as possible, so they look anonymous. This C-40A is a "great" example of it while operated by most probably VR-59 during a flight to Souda (Greece).

Antonov 32 of the Fixed Wing of the then Afghan National Army - Air Corps. The 342 was delivered to the ANA-AC in April 1991 in a green/brown colour scheme. Late 2004 the aircraft was overhauled at Ivanovo-Severny (Russia) and redelivered to Afghanistan early 2005 in this boring overall grey colour scheme. The aircraft only continued operations for a few years as it was withdrawn from use in 2011. It was scrapped (unconfirmed) at Kabul in 2012.

The aircraft is named after Nigerian aviation entrepreneur and founder of Kano-based Kabo Air, Muhammadu (Mohd) Adamu Dankabo, who carried the honourary title of Jarman Kano and who passed away in April 2002. In March 2007 Ariana Afghan Airlines took over this aircraft as YA-FAT.

The VF-24 bird (F-14A-Block 85-GR) was the 15th F-14A that was remanufactured to F-14D, as a result it received the designation F-14D(R). The Tomcat was stricken with VF-31 on 13 January 1995 when it was involved in a mid-air collision with F-14D 164340 over the Pacific Ocean, south of San Diego. The crew was rescued by a SH-60F from HS-8 and a nearby operating US Marine Corps CH-53E.

The 200th built F-106A Delta Dart is seen here on the flightline of Atlantic City Air National Guard Base (NJ). The Jersey Devils used this century fighter up to July 1988, after it was replaced by the F-16A/B. This 0034 was transferred to AMARC as AA FN0191 on 20 July 1988 and remained there up to 1 December 1992. The aircraft was selected for the QF-106A aerial target programme with the 82nd ATS/Det. With that unit it was shot down by a Man Portable Air Defense System (MANPADS), a Stinger, over one of the Holloman (NM) ranges on 8 November 1996.

The 141st Tactical Fighter Squadron, part of the 108th Tactical Fighter Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard, swapped from F-105D Thunderchief to F-4D Phantom in 1981. The Deltas were exchanged into F-4E Phantoms IIs in 1985. They operated the F-4E untill 1991 after which the Tiger unit (the badge shows a Great Bengal Tiger) transferred to the KC-135 Stratotanker and the unit was subsequently redesignated into the 141-st Air Refueling Squadron. Currently they still operate the KC-135R. This 68-0370 was transferred to the RoKAF in late 1991 as 80-370.

The 141th TFS had three different colorschemes in use during fall 1987, this most modern F-4E camo jacket named Egypt One, the older Lizard or European One camouflage and the old-style Vietnam colours. Nice to see those all on the McGuire flightline. This 68-0625 shows also the Tiger markings on the nose. The Great Bengal Tiger with orange and black markings playing with a German helmet and Iron Cross is the 141st squadron marking.

The Jersey Devils transitioned into the F-106 and assumed the quick alert status the following year. The Aerospace Defense Command then came under TAC as the Air Defense Tactical Air Command (ADTAC), and then again changed to a numbered Air Force, in this case1st Air Force. During 1988, the unit transitioned into the F-16A/B Fighting Falcon.
