Rebuilt at Greybull by Hawkins and Powers in 1981-1982, it was flown to the museum in January 1983. Severely damaged by Hurricane Ivan in September 2004 (rudder and engine #4 blown off, damage to fuselage, cockpit canopy, tail and wingtip, and top hatch missing). Had been repaired by 2007.

Back behind DC-7B N4889C was an unexpected find; the rear fuselage of PB4Y-2 N6816D, which crashed and burnt out on the runway at Wenatchee, WA on July 27, 1972. The remains of the aircraft were reportedly bought by Sergio Tomassoni, who was the "T" in T&G Aviation. This aircraft was BuNo 59905 while in service with the US Navy.

In the 60s and 70s, private contractors flew mostly warbirds and piston airliners for fire suppression in the USA and Canada. This former US Navy Privateer was purchased circa 1965 by Sergio Tomassoni as a stripped airframe , installed Wright Cyclone engines, a B-24D nose and outfitted it as a fire bomber. Flying as tanker 30 until sold to the Lone Star Flight Museum in 1991 where the patrol bomber was restored to military configuration. The aircraft was transferred to Pima Air and Space Museum in 2016.
