Here just arrived on import ferry flight, it became CF-ZQZ in February and was wrecked in unknown circumstances on 4 October 1985. (I adapted my photography technique to Canadian winter conditions, such as here there is a pile of snow by the wing root where I brushed it off the registration, then my footprints lead to where I took the shot. Whatever it takes!)

Later re-registered as N4VH and written off at Ruidoso/NM on 11 September 1991 when the cabin door opened on take-off.

Paint scheme was yellow and brown separated by a white stripe. Became CF-TAG with Transair later in the month, then leased to Aer Turas as EI-AVJ for one year from November 1971. Then to SAFE Air as ZK-SAF in October 1973 and wrecked when a main landing gear failed at Wellington (NZWN) on 1 April 1990. (Having moved to Winnipeg two weeks prior, the last thing I expected to see was an ex-BEA Argosy.)

Built in 1966 and registered to Nebraska Game & Park Commission at the time. In 2003 it was re-registered as N197K then exported as VH-WZV in 2005. On 10 March 2015 it was wrecked at Badu Island/QSLD.

Built in 1947 and cancelled as expired on 18 March 2013.

Built in 1967 and registered to Aero Trades (Western) of Winnipeg at the time. This plane reportedly crashed while landing on an ice strip at Island Lake (CYIV) in the winter of 1971 or 1972. It was sold by the insurance company and salvaged by the new owners. No further history found so possibly broken up for spares.

Registered to Furrs Cafeteries Inc. at the time and written-off after a missed approach in low visibility and icing conditions at Springfield/IL on 12 December 1971.

Part of the Transport Canada fleet at the time and written-off on 29 August 1985 in unknown circumstances. (The one that famously shed a wing in flight was sister ship CF-CAS.)

Built in 1959 and written-off en route near Milton/ON on 7 July 1998.

Built in 1968 and registered to Delta Tire Co. at the time. Current as N4QS in 2021.

Test reg N15625 then delivered to Frontier/Canadian Partner as C-GFAD in 1989. To Ontario Express in 1992. Repossessed by Beech as N80334 in 1993. To Markair Express in 1994 then to Frontier Flying Service as N575A in 1998, Rebranded as Era by 2010 and Ravn Connect in 2014. They went bankrupt in 2020 and it was registered to Tailwind Investments.

Delivered to the USAAF as 42-23669 then to the RAF as FD879 in 1943 and operated in India. To the Pakistan Air Force in 1947. Registered as N2701A with incorrect c/n 33569 in 1952. Later to N42F, CF-IKD in 1955 C-FIKD after 1973 and N103NA in 1993. Still registered with c/n 33569 in 2020.

Taxiing out for Gillam's gravel runway, this Dakota started as a lend lease aircraft for the Royal Air Force. Built as 44-76481 and delivered as KN392, it was struck off strenght by the RAF in 1950 and transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force. It was re-serialed 12917 in 1970 only to be sold and overhauled in 1971. Northward Aviation and Gander Aviation operated CF-BKX before Lambair added it to their fleet. (1976 - 1980). While with Ontario Central Airlines, the aircraft was written off after an engine failed on take-off and it descended into trees at Shamathawa, MB on February 15, 1983.

Ex.N7923C. It was operating for Relief Air Transport in Kenya when it was damaged beyond repair in a crash landing, due to engine failure, just after take-off from Lokichoggio (Kenya) 23 Apr 94. The crew of two were unhurt.

First stop of a three-leg cargo flight [Winnipeg - Island Lake - God's River - Winnipeg] which I had the great pleasure of flying jump seat on. I spent a total of four hours and nine minutes in the air on this magnificent aeroplane.
