Delivered to the USAF as MATS C-118A 53-3279 in August 1955; via MASDC to the US Navy as 533279 in March 1976. Again to MASDC in February 1985 (8C041) and placed on display, marked 0-33279. To N578AS in 1986 and operational in Florida early 1990s. Bought by Nighthawk Air Systems in 1995, leased to the Radial Reminiscence Preservation Group in Oakland (CA) for restoration in full United colours. Back to Nighthawk after lack of funds, flown to Texas, CofA renewed twice for NX578AS and eventually stored here. Just United's Mainliner Oakland emblem remains on the nose. Seen from outside the field.

Immaculate Twin Bonanza with matching interior, accessible through the starboard airstair. Built in February 1960, undergoing maintenance here since January 2025. Ex N333RB, and N108GS before that, but probably had more registrations over time. On the tail, it says 'BQ Classic Collection' in stylish lettering, so the latest change in regi was not random.

Cityhopper Fokker 50 PH-LXK short final for (then) runway 28. By 2021, the water on the left had been partly covered to accomodate a new apron and a taxiway parallel to the whole runway. Note the Canary Wharf high-rise buildings and imagine doing a missed approach in the clouds here with crosswind from the right.

Registered to Triad Aviation and arriving from its home base Tyler for a short stop, before continuing to Lubbock, all in Texas. Test flown by Cessna Aircraft as N1263B in March 1993 and passed through three other US and three more Mexican registrations before becoming N125TN in December 2015.

Delivered in September 2014, in the Love China colour scheme ever since.

Passing Wiesbaden on an outbound Lufthansa Dreamliner from nearby Frankfurt. This has been an airfield since 1929 and at the photo date housed the US Army 12th Combat Aviation Brigade operating C-12s, UC-35s and UH-60s. Some of those can be recognised on the apron along the 2155 m (7070 ft) runway.

In June 1969, this trainer first flew with Heliopolis Air Works in Alexandria. It subsequently logged nearly 3,000 flying hours as 347 and was withdrawn from use in 1988. Flown to Germany in June 1989 by two pilots of the Sportfluggruppe Nordholz/Cuxhaven where it is being operated since. The nose art could perhaps refer to the ancient Egyptian deity Sobek.

Seen at its home airfield during overwing refuelling, hence the angle to blend out the pilots. A 1957 machine, delivered September that year to the Heeresflieger as PC-113. Reserialled at least four times, to 5536 eventually. After its operational days used by military flying clubs from 1971 to 1979. With the Sportfluggruppe Nordholz/Cuxhaven since 1980, registered as shown.

Flew in from Trier this day, likely for maintenance. Built in 1976 and was OE-FMF before coming to Germany in October 1983.

The former N1502G arrived here from Slovakia late November 2024. It was built in 1975 and reregistered in 2019.

At a time when the only war in Europe was the Cold War, Ahlhorn served as a Forward Operating Location (Det. 3) for the A-10s of the 81st and 10th TFW in the UK, alongside the German Hueys of HTG64. The last of the military left in 2005, followed by four years of civil aviation use. By 2011, the northern half of the field was already covered by photovoltaic and any flying had ceased by 2018. Two-thirds of the 1940s triangle layout in the west are still present in 2024, seen looking southeast to northwest here.

First flew in October 1977 and delivered in February 1979, as a GR1 model. Upgraded to GR1A and GR3A in later years, serving with 6 Sqn at Coltishall at least from the early nineties until November 2005. Stored at Bentwaters and eventually shipped to the USA in 2014 for the museum. On display since, in first Gulf War desert pink coating with just M on the nosewheel door. Last tailcode was EQ for a few months but it was EM for many years before that.

The museum gate guard since 2014, having replaced A-7 70-0973. Delivered to the US Navy as A4D-2N 148571 in 1961, redesignated A-4C the following year. Became N401FS in 1974, N53996 seemingly not taken up and with Flight Systems until 1981. Via a short period at MASDC (3A530) to the museum.

Delivered in 1969 and soon converted to KA-6D tanker version. Became the A-6E prototype in November 1977 and continued operational use until its flying days ended 16 years later at AMARC. To the museum late 1995, initially on display with its last unit's markings as NJ-562. Repainted by September 2011 as shown, having joined VA-165 in 1984. This squadron made two cruises aboard the Kitty Hawk with Carrier Air Wing 9, to the WestPac and Indian Ocean in 1985 and a World Cruise in 1987.

On 29 September 2022, SOFIA flew her last mission as the programme was deemed too expensive for its science productivity. On the following 13 December, the 'special Special Performance 747' was ferried from Palmdale (CA) via flypasts at Edwards AFB to Davis-Monthan. The aircraft had originally been delivered to Pan Am in May 1977, flew with United as N145UA starting February 1986 and went to NASA in April 2005.

Initially preserved at Homestead AFB (FL) in the 1990s as '60441' with local tailcode FM and moved to Pima as such in 2001. Beautifully repainted in 2012 into the livery of its first unit, the 425th TFTS at Williams AFB (AZ), but without the wing badge. Delivered in November 1972, this was a trainer notably for South Vietnamese pilots at the time.

Ferried from Raytheon at Tucson Int'l, where she was a guided weapons systems testbed, to Davis-Monthan on 8 August 2023 and towed across Valencia Road to the museum the same day. Built in 1958 as a CV440 for REAL as PP-YRM but not taken up. To General Motors as N5122 in May 1960 and converted to CV580 the same year. Became N580R in October 1977, N580HH in March 1980 and to Texas Instruments in 1981. Suffered a heavy runway excursion in 1993 but was repaired to serve another 30 years, with Raytheon since the start of this century.
