In 12.96 the MiG-23MF (Flogger-B) was withdrawn from use by the Hungarian AF. Although a good interceptor it was costly to operate and utilisation was poor, the MiG-29 being more capable. Most had less than 100 flying hours remaining before they needed expensive overhaul. India did show some interest in acquiring nine remaining MiG-23MF's and two MiG-23UB's at that time but did not proceed

The 42 Aéronavale F-8E(FN) air superiority fighters delivered from 1965 had increased wing lift and upgraded radar. From 1990, 17 were modified as F-8P (Prolongé), including this 12F example, but the last was withdrawn in late 1999. Now stored at Dugny having been on display outside the Musée de l'Air in the later dark grey finish
