Surely the best colour scheme going around on a Harvard today? Although painted in this superb USN scheme, this aircraft was actually built as AT-6C Harvard Mk II, USAAF 41-33767, to an RAF order (EX794). It was, however, shipped straight to New Zealand in August 1943 and became NZ1051. It served with the RNZAF until 1978 when it was sold. Seen here with wheels just coming up on departure from the Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia's charity Christmas Toy Run.

New Guinea? Northern Australia? No: it's the Temora Aviation Museum, the only place in the world where you can regularly see an airworthy Boomerang and Hudson together, bringing back memories of those desperate days of 1942-45. (The Hudson is VH-KOY.)

This attractive Cherokee is on the register as a -140, however the badge on the cowl has been changed from Cherokee 140 to Cherokee 160, an earlier model. The 140 and 160 used different versions of the Lycoming O-320 engine with only a 10hp difference in power (the 140 engine is rated at 150hp).

My logbook shows that I first flew 'Wally' on 20 Dec 1997 when it was just about brand new, and pretty regularly for the next four years. With a 73 hp Rotax 618 in a fairly lightweight airframe, climb performance was pretty good!
