Although now painted as a Naval Air Test Center aircraft, this Fury was in fact operated by VMF-232 "Red Devils", MCAS Kaneohe Bay, HI for its short service life in the mid-1950s. This is one of only two FJ-2s in preservation, although there are also a number of the more powerful FJ-3s surviving

The FJ-2 Fury was developed as a swept-wing, carrier capable fighter from the F-86 Sabre (the similarities are evident). Of 200 built very few are extant and this one is displayed at the National Naval Aviation Museum in the markings of an aircraft assigned to the Naval Air Test Center, Patuxent River, although, in reality she was based for her entire service life in California and Hawaii.
