This was to be the last Albatross in the US Navy, departing Guantanamo for the Pensacola museum 15 years later on 12 August 1976. The Douglas JD-1 Invader was a target tug or target drone director. This was the last HU-16 on active duty with the USN. It was on display at the museum from 1977 - 1980. The USN then recalled it, registered it with the FAA as N693S, and loaned it to the Smithsonian Institute for scientific duties. Eventually disposed of by the US Navy, it was last reported displayed in a lake at Universal Studios, Orlando, FL.
