The backbone of Egypt's Air Force during the 1960s was provided by the delivery of 275 MiG-21s, this being one of the early variants supplied from 1962. Heavy losses in training and transfers to other Arab air forces halved this number by the time of the Six Day War in 1967, when most remaining aircraft were destroyed on the ground. Resupply of Czech-built and more advanced MiG -21 versions followed, along with Chinese J-7s later on. The last MiG-21s operated up until around 2010

Egypte used the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21F-13 Fishbed-C from the 60ties onwards. Seen at the Egyptian Air Force Museum which is adjacent to Almaza Air Force Base.

2023 marked the first appearance of a Kai FA-50 at the NATO Days event.

First flown on 19/01/43, this H.F Mk VIII with serial numbers JF294/3885 was shipped to North Africa and taken on charge by the Middle East Allied Air Command in Dec. 1943. Flown non-stop from Cairo to Cape Town in 1944 and allocated to 11th OTU, SAAF with new serial no. 5001. Transferred to 7 wing at AFS, Waterkloof, in Oct 45. SOC and offered to museum Dec 48. Displayed in standard high altitude day fighter scheme.
