Pictured with Great Lakes Airlines, this CV580 was last with Air Tribe registered XA-TRB. On January 18, 2018, the aircraft suffered an unexpected partial landing gear retraction while mechanics were doing an engine run at Brownsville-South Padre Island International Airport in Texas. Shattered propeller fragments sliced into the fuselage causing structural damage.

Originally built as a Convair 340 for United in 1953. After service with Air Ontario it went to Belgium, Spain and Mexico (XA-TRB) and was written off 18 January 2018 when the landing gear was retracted during a ground run at Brownsville/TX.

Starting out as a 1953 440 for United Airlines, this Convair was with Lake Central Airlines when it was converted to a 580 in December 1966. Merged with Allegheny Airlines in 1968, it was withdrawn and stored at Marana, AZ in the mid 70s until sold to Great Lakes in August 1976. Renamed Air Ontario in 1981, the Convair left Canada in 1988. Written off during a maintenance ground run when the main undercarriage collapsed and the propeller damaged the fuselage at Brownsville-South Padre Island International Airport, Tx January 18, 2018. It was registered XA-TRB with Air Tribe.
