Operated by the Vancouver Soaring Association, in use as a Glider tug on the grass airstrip at Hope, BC, at the eastern end of the Fraser Valley in the Cascade foothills. Built in 1953 for the US Army as 53-8053. Transferred to Canadian Army Aviation in 1954 as L-19A 16704. Renumbered as CAF 119704 in 1970. Struck off strength in 1971 and sold onto the civil register.

This was the first all-metal Canadian built bush plane. This prototype parasol wing version was powered by a 525 HP P&W S1D1 Wasp engine. It sank after running into a submerged log near Lost Bay on Confederation Lake 3 October 1940. Subsequently salvaged and donated to the museum for restoration. The museum was renamed the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada 19 December 2014 and closed its doors 22 October 2018. The historic TCA hangar and original terminal building were sadly demolished to make way for a new maintenance facility. The construction of a new museum building commenced 1 May 2020.

Former Canadian Army 16704 and Air Force 119704 L-19A was sold by Crown Assets after 1971 to become CF-AUJ. It was purchased in 1976 by the Vancouver Soaring Association, who fly their gliders out of Hope, BC.
