"Pennzoil Special" Art Scholl purchased this DHC-1 Chipmunk in 1968. He modified it to a single-seat configuration with a shorter wingspan and larger vertical fin and rudder, and made other changes to improve its performance. Scholl was a three-time member of the U.S. Aerobatic Team, an air racer, and a movie and television stunt pilot. At air shows, he often flew with his dog "Aileron" on his shoulder or taxied with him standing on the wing. Now in the Smithsonian, Washington DC.

This P-51 was TOC by the USAF as 44-72400 but too late to see combat. It was bought as surplus and registered NX69406 after WWII. Then followed a long and successful career as a modified racing plane with the registrations NX13Y, N13Y, N502 and N913Y. The plane is on display at the NEAM as it looked in 1949 when competing as #45 in four Thompson Trophy races and winning in 1948.

Ex RCAF 18001. Although highly modified and named a Super Chipmunk, it technically remained a DHC.1A. It is now preserved at the NASM's Udvar-Hazy Centre at Chantilly, Virginia.

Art Scholl taxiing in after performing at the 1977 NAS Moffett Field Airshow.. Mr Scholl lost his life during the filming of the original "Top Gun" movie. This aircraft is now on display at the Udvar-Hazy Annex of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.

This first Royal Canadian Air Force Chipmunk (18001) served 1948 - 1959. Sold by Crown Assets to become N13Y, it's pictured as the much modified Super Chipmunk with pilot Art Scholl in the cockpit. The aircraft is now displayed at the Smithsonian Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center at Dulles International Airport.

Built for RCAF as 18001. Later highly modified for aerobatic displays as the Scholl "Super Chipmunk".
