This aircraft was built for the US Navy in 1942 as a GB-2, Bu 12342. Post-war it was civilianised as N397, later N1532M. It came to Australia in 2006, being registered VH-UUV on 9 February that year (see my photo of it in that guise). Exported back to the USA and then again to Australia, this time as VH-FNS. Seen here taxying at the RAAF 90th Anniversary Air Pilgrimage.

VH-FNS was originally intended for Ansett's New Guinea operation Ansett-MAL. But on arrival in Australia in February 1967 it was repainted in Ansett-ANA's livery. In July 1977 it was sold to Air Niugini as P2-ANS.
