ZS-DBR was the first of four Constellation delivered to South African in 1950 replacing DC-4s on some routes. The fleet was relegated to domestic and regional tourist class flights fitted with 84 seats from the mid-1950s. Delivered to SAA new as ZS-CKD 22 August 1960 and named after the Mother City, Cape Town/Kaapstad. In 1969 all 707s were re-registered in the ZS-Sxx range. Seen here at Rome's Fiumicino airport sporting the first orange tail livery that was introduced with the arrival of the Boeings.

This 743 was delivered to South African in April 1983 and, apart from a short lease to Air Namibia as VS-TST, flew with the airline until September 2004. It then went to TAAG Angola as D2-TEC but was stored at Johannesburg (JNB) in June 2005 and subsequently scrapped.

Delivered new to the airline in April 1983. In October 2004 over to TAAG Angola Airlines (D2-TEC). Returned to South African Airways and stored Johannesburg, full white cs since June 2005.

Poor quality but re-registered as ZS-SAB later in the year.

"Kaapstad" was the first of four L-749A's to be delivered to SAA in 1950. They replaced Douglas DC-4's on the run to Heathrow. Latterly fitted with 84 seats for domestic tourist class flights. Stored from 1959 and bought by ACE as G-ASYS in early 1965. Seen taxying to London Airport North on arrival from Johannesburg.
