The FH-1 Phantom the first all-jet aircraft operated by the USN and USMC being delivered from 1947, but with the rapid progress of jet aircraft at the time, was already obsolete within a couple of years and was withdrawn from front-line service in 1949, although it carried on with the reserves till 1954, by which time the McDonnell FH-2 Banshee and Grumman F9F Panther had taken over. This example was unusual in that it went on to be civil registered as N4283A in 1966 with Progressive Aero as a trainer. Now restored in the colours it wore in service with VMF-122, MCAS Cherry Point, NC

The first production aircraft at the old Air Force Museum on Patterson AFB in 1958, reportedly used for weather research tests there.

Note the faded Sensormatic titles on the forward section of the fuselage. This may well be connected to Sensormatic Electronics LLC headquartered up the road in Boca Raton FL.

The FH-1 Phantom was the first US-designed jet aircraft to operate from a US Navy Carrier (in 1946). 60 were completed and this example was later civilianised by Progressive Aero. It is now displayed in the NMNA at Pensacola as 111793.
