This AS 350B-2 was originally imported to Canada in 1980 as an AS 350D AStar powered by the Lycoming LTS101 and later converted to an Arriel 1B turboshaft and upgraded to wider chord AS355 rotor blades, and then further upgraded to an AS 350B-2. In 1986-1987 it was one of three AStars operated by Ranger Helicopters on the Air Canada helicopter service flying passengers between Toronto International Airport (YYZ) and the Cherry Street heliport near Toronto Harbour. Ranger became part of Maple Leaf Helicopters which was acquired by CHC subsidiary Canadian Helicopters in the late 1980s.

This 1998 AS350B-2 operated in Australia as VH-EES and in New Zealand as ZK-HWD before imported to Canada in July 2000 by Vancouver Island Helicopters as C-GGNU. It was later flown by Kokanee Helicopters (2005-2011) and Coldstream Helicopters (2011-2014) before joining the fleet of Blackcomb Helicopters in August 2014. It was seen picking up a business group at the heliport beside the Rendezvous Lodge on Blackcomb Mountain, about 5,300 ft above the resort town of Whistler, BC.

Blackcomb Helicopters acquired this AS350B2 in December 2019. It was first flown in France as F-WQDB, in the United States as N407AE and N852ML, and was then imported to Canada by Lakeshore Helicopters of Fort McMurray, Alberta as C-GLHC in November 2007. The aircraft was re-registered C-FIRE when it joined the fleet of HELIOPS Alberta Ltd. in June 2012.
