Originally a UH-1F, this Huey was converted to UH-1P gunship for the USAF's 20th Special Operations Squadron 'Green Hornets' in Vietnam. Sister ship 65-7925, which is in a museum, underwent the conversion to UH-1P in June 1969 and was shipped back to the US in November 1970. Before and after their dangerous tour of duty, these helicopters had more sedate jobs at various USAF bases. Built as a UH-1F, served with 14 SOW in Vietnam, converted to UH-1P in 1969. Reconfigured to resemble a UH-1F for National Museum of the United States Air Force at Wright Patterson from 1980.

On display at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Huey '492' is painted to represent a 20th Special Operations Squadron "Green Hornets" helicopter that rescued a seven-man team of Green Berets on Nov. 26, 1968 in Vietnam. The pilot, 1st Lt. J. Fleming was awarded the Medal of Honor for the mission.

Displayed in the museum at the gate of this Special Operations base.

This diorama at the NMUSAF is configured to appear as the UH-1F flown by Capt. Jim Fleming on 26th Nov. 1968, when he braved intense enemy fire to rescue a small reconnaissance team that was about to be overrun by a much larger enemy force. For his bravery, Captain Fleming was awarded the Medal of Honor.
