On display at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. This rare Type 21 Zero was recovered from Kavieng in New Ireland. It was flown by the 6th Kokutai, and is now painted to represent a section leader's Zero from the aircraft carrier Zuiho during the Battle of the Bismarck Sea. The twin 7.7mm fuselage machine guns are missing in this excellent caramel-tint restoration with the visible aotake color in the wheel wells. The longer spinner of this Nakajima-built A6M2b is evident.

Made up of parts from several aircraft but mainly an A6M2 recovered from New Britain in 1973. Acquired by the Australian War Memorial in 1974 which restored it to static display condition.

This aircraft has since been sold to the museum at Pearl Harbor.

This Mitsubishi A6M2 was recovered from Ballale Island in the South West Pacific in 1968 and restored back to an airworthy condition with a Pratt and Whitney engine as N58245 . It was sold to the Pacific Aviation Museum as a static display in 2005 and its registration cancelled. The official FAA c/n was a part number and the c/n often quoted for this aircraft is 5356, which provided the cockpit. Other c/ns are 5451 (forward fuselage) and 5355. The markings however are for an aircraft that was forced down after the attack on Pearl Harbour.

As one can guess from the folded-wingtips this was a Naval Zero and painted to represent a section leader's aircraft from the aircraft carrier 'Zuiho' during the Battle of the Bismarck Sea, March 1943. This plane was discovered near the city of Kavieng on New Ireland, Papua New Guinea and after restoration was placed on display at the National Museum for the USAF in 2004.

Seen in the Commemorative Air Force hangar. There were plans to return this aircraft to the air and it was substantially intact. However it was sold to the Pacific Aviation Museum at Pearl Harbor.
