The Tigercat narrowly missed WWII but operated successfully as a night fighter and on night ground interdiction missions during the Korean War. Phased out of Marine service by 1954, several were sold for aerial firefighting. Of the 364 F7Fs built, fewer than 10 remain. This one became N7627C with Cal-Nat in 1962. Damaged when the gear folded in a landing at Grass Valley, CA the same year, it went on to Sis-Q of Santa Rosa in 1969. Now immaculately presented in the marks of VMF(N)-533, MCAS Cherry Point, NC around 1952

Inititally preserved at the USMC Museum, MCAS Quantico, VA. Moved to Pensacola around 1975 then to Yankee Air Force Museum, Willow Run, MI by 1988 and the Planes of Fame Air Museum, Chino, CA in 1989.

Partially disassembled and in storage behind the museum. It was traded to the Pima Air Museum in 1987. Later acquired by Westpac Restorations of Colorado Springs, CO. It is currently airworthy with FAA registration N379AK.

US Navy Tigercat 80375 was stored at the USMC Museum, MCAS Quantico, VA and later Pima Air and Space Museum. The aircraft was restored by Westpac Restorations during 2011- 13 and is current as one of the few Tigercats flying.

Operated post-war as a fire bomber N7627C by Cal-Nat Airways and Sis-Q Flying Services. Restored to military configuration.

After finishing its time with the Marines this F7F moved between the USMC museum at Quantico, the NNAM at Pensacola and the Yankee Air Force Museum at Willow Run before ending up at the Planes of Fame Museum at Chino. Currently displayed outside in this unrestored condition.
