After the STOLport at Værøy was closed following a disasterous wind-shear accident where a Widerøe Twin Otter crashed into the sea killing all on board, a helicopter service was opened to the island. Helikopter Service won the first contract operating S-61s.

When a new passenger terminal for scheduled flights was built south of the original terminal, the latter was used for North Sea oil shuttle operations. In 2023 it is still in use for that prupose. Helikopter Service's S-61 is basking in the late evening setting sun.
