slide scan from the NK collection. - Phoenix Airways was not a regular visitor to Munich-Riem; perhaps the aircraft visited for a maintenance issue, as it was parked in front of the Lufthansa hangar. After the airline suspended operations in February 1974, the B707 was sold as N730JP; it crashed on take-off from Sta. Cruz, Bolivia, in 1976.

Built in 1959, it still has the early short fin which had been modified by 1967 (Photo ID: 34529). Likely here returning to the USA after serving as the press and support aircraft for President Eisenhower's European tour. It is believed to be on the only ever visit by a TWA 707-131 to Europe . Crashed on take-off at Santa Cruz (SLVR) on 13 October 1976 while on lease to Lloyd Aéreo Boliviano as N730JP.

This 1959 build 707 was seen in Heathrow's Cargo Area in 1973. It crashed as N730JP in 1976 whilst operating for Lloyd Aéreo Boliviano when it failed to get airborne from Santa Cruz with the loss of all 3 crew and 88 on the ground.

Destroyed when it crashed on take off from Santa Cruz, Bolivia on October 13, 1976 with another operator. other regns were HB-IEG, N730JP, and HK-1773.

ARCA later went on to favour the DC-8 but here we see a 707 which has just been prepared for her new role, still clearly showing the Swiss livery used by Phoenix Airways, which operated this former TWA aircraft as HB-IEG from 11.72
