Former RAAF (ex A65-23) and Australian Navy (ex N2-23) aircraft from 1950 to 1974 when it was sold to Masling Airlines for spares. Never civil registered. Displayed at West Wyalong since 1983. Painted in RAAF ARDU markings without serial by 1988, but this aircraft was never attached to ARDU during its seven-year RAAF service nor any of the unit's predecessors.

The Australian navy's second Dakota, ex RAAF and yet to receive its navy serial N2-23. VJ-ORB is a radio call sign. At the time military aircraft in Australia used civil call signs, the VJ prefix being navy and VM- the RAAF. Last flew with the Royal Australian Navy as N2-23 while in military service, but displayed here in RAAF markings without serial.

Built as a C-47A-1-DK, USAAF serial 42-92199. Delivered to the RAAF December 1943 as A65-23. Served with 36 Squadron, then 81 & 86 Wings post-war. Transferred to RAN FAA in April 1950 & re-serialled N2-23 - used as flying classroom to train Venom & Gannet Observers. Retired 1970 & allocated RAN FAA Museum 1976. Seen here displayed in the Lion's Club Park, West Wyalong in RAAF markings without serial.

N2-23 was acquired from the RAAF in 1950, which had operated it as A65-23. The Dakota was withdrawn from use in 1974 and sold in 1977. Since 1983 it has been on static display at West Wyalong, New South Wales, with its RAAF serial.
