Delivered new November 1942 to USN. Assigned to VS-22 in December 1942, then VC-22 in March 1943. To NAOT at NAS Jacksonville in September 43. To NAS Glenview Carrier Qualification Training Unit (CQTU) in 1944. While taking off from USS Sable on 24 Sept. 1944 the a/c had an engine failure and was ditched in Lake Michigan. The pilot was rescued. The aircraft was retrieved from the lake on 11 Sept. 1991. It is now on display in the Sunken Treasures display in the museum in an unrestored condition as it was found in the lake.
