Aircraft markings - recorded a hit on a Japanese carrier (probably Shōhō) which was sunk. Stationed aboard USS Lexington, Battle of Coral Sea, where Lexington suffered critical damage, and was scuttled by USS Phelps May 8. ADM. R.W. Cousins: Cousins led dive-bomber attacks (VB-2) against the Imperial Japanese Navy at the Battle of the Coral Sea in May 1942 for which he was awarded the Navy Cross CAF Colonels: Col. G Levitz, Col ?. Griffin, Col L. Irvine. Rear fuselage markings: Confederate Air Force; Douglas SBD-5 Dauntless; N54532. Standard Navy markings - effective April 29,1942.

Carries small "C.I.A. Mex - Aerofoto SA" titles. Had recently been acquired by Tallmantz Aviation (Paul Mantz and Frank Tallman), but was not used. To Ed Maloney's The Air Museum in 1966, and sold as N54532 in 1971. To the Confederate Air Force in 1978 and restored in US Navy markings with its original BuNo 54532. To N82GA in 1996 and still current with the Commemorative Air Force by 2021. See here for many more photos of this airframe.

Built for US Navy as SBD-5 BuAer 54532. To Mexico post-war as XB-QUC. Bought back by the Confederate Air Force and maintained airworthy as NL82GA.

Flew in Mexico for 13 years post-war as XB-QUC. Restored to US Register as N54532 in 1971. Here seen in 1987 in early WW2 (circa 1942) US Navy markings including red centre to the US National star, but as yet no side bars.
