At the time, this was the only Latvian Nation Guard Wilga painted in camouflage colours. Pity it was unserviceable on the day of our visit as it would have been lovely to see this in flight.

Another Latvian Border Guard An-2. This time parked in what looked like somebodies back yard!

One of two Latvian Border Guard An-2s based at this small airfield on the north/western side of the town.

An-2R, 246, awaits for a spot of maintenance in Lithuania before heading back to the Latvian Border guard. This aircraft was later transferred to the Latvian Air Force.

A parachutist can be seen jumping out of the door of this An-2 during a late afternoon jumping session flown from Limbazie.. The Colt was later sold on the civil market as YL-LEF.

After a long and extensive search, this aircraft is believed to be c/n 1G96-22, ex CCCP-32260 and YL-LEA. It was deregistered from the Latvian civil register on the same day as at least 8 other Border Guard An-2s. Other An-2s in Aeroflot colour remained in these colours at Spilve, whilst the remainder showed up in the UK. 1G96-22 seems to have been 'missing' for a number of years. Further more, it has the same dent on the fuselage as CCCP-32260 which makes it quite sure this is the correct tie-up. It was later again on the civil register as YL-CCF and it still has the same dent on the fuselage! This was discussed with the Guus Ottenhof and he seems to agree after viewing the evidence.

Another ex civil An-2R that has a second career in the military. This time LY-LEL became 254 with the Latvian Border Guard and can be seen in the airspace near the airfield of Rēzekne.
