The HE 8 (not He 8, E for monoplane) reconnaissance seaplane was developed for the Danish navy which gave it the HM.II designation. Six examples were bought from Heinkel in 1928 and 16 more produced by the Danish navy yard. Oddly they were numbered in reverse order so s/n 99 was the first one and 78 the last one, built in 1938 when the design was thoroughly obsolete. 87 is seen in the harbour of Nuuk in Greenland.
