In 2003, the US Forest Service acquired twenty-five ex-military Bell AH-1 Cobras. These two were made flyable and outfitted with infrared and low light sensors to form the Firewatch Cobra program. The other helicopters remained in storage, providing parts on demand. N109Z is former US Army AH-1F 69-16422. N107Z in behind was formerly AH-1S 83-24194. The last Firewatch Cobra flight was on October 16, 2021, being replaced by newer technology equipment.

Serving Oregon and Northern California, Cal - Ore Lifeflight provides air ambulance transportation partnered with REACH Air Medical Services. The two companies merged their flight operations in 2011.

Built for the USAAF as a C-47B, serial 43-49147. Later transferred to the US Navy as an R4D-6S, serial 50783, and later re-designated as an SC-47J prior being transferred to the US Forest Service.
