This Intruder was delivered to the USN in 1965 as A-6A. In 1974 it was converted to A-6E. From 1980 until 1988, the aircraft was stored at MASDC. In 1988, Grumman brought the aircraft back to life. It served with VA-34 until 1995. In that year, it finally was wfu and prepared for display at the USS Midway. On this side, the aircraft wears VMA(AW)-224 markings (the Intruder was with this unit in 1967). On the opposite side it has VA-115 markings (the markings it had when it went to MASDC in 1980).

The 'Night Hawk' is seen on arrivals day for the Hamilton Air Show. Unit is VMA(AW)-224, the 'Bengals'.

Early 1970 to mid-1971: Deployed to Vietnam on board the USS Ranger. 1971: VA-165, NAS Whidbey. 1973: VA-34, NAS Oceana. Ca. 1076: to A-6E. 1983: VMA(AW)-224, MCAS Cherry Point, NC. Late 1983: VMA(AW)-332 at Cherry Point. 1985: VMA(AW)-242, MCAS Iwakuni. 3/86: squadron relocated to MCAS El Toro, CA. Fall 1986: VMA(AW)-224 at Cherry Point. Ca.9/90 to ca/2/91: Deployed to Bahrain for Operation Desert Storm. 4/95: WFU, to Grumman, St. Augustine, FL, where it was salvaged and used as artificial reef.
