The 1 Group panthers head badge has been applied on the fin along with the Union Flag. Replicating the markings applied to Vulcan aircraft that were sent to the USA to compete in the 'Giant Voice' SAC Navigation and Bombing competitions. XM605 departed Waddington a few days after the photo was taken (September 2nd 1981) to be presented to the USAF at Castle AFB, Ca for their museum.

The Vulcan Display Flight adopted the 1 Group Panthers head and Union Flag on the fin, markings often seen when the Vulcan force squadrons participated in bombing competitions with the U. S. Air Force. Photographed departing a rainy Woodford on the Sunday after the 1990 Woodford Airshow.

Operated by the Vulcan Display Flight. Here it is beginning to taxi for its display. The crowd experienced a lot of noise and jet blast as the aircraft passed by, but no one was complaining!

This Vulcan was delivered to the RAF in March 1963 and, after retirement, ferried to the Strategic Air Command Museum at Offut AFB in Omaha in June 1982. In 1997, XM573 was moved thirty miles down the road to be ready for the opening of the brand new Strategic Air Command and Aerospace Museum at Ashland. It is currently in storage behind the museum, out of display.
