The Fokker was a reconnaissance biplane of which the Luchtvaart Afdeling (LVA, Dutch Army Aviation) received 31 examples. The type was a tremendous export success: some 200 were sold to Russia. Prepared for a proposed flight from Tacoma, Washington, to Tokyo following the Pacific Rim by pilot Bob Wark and copilot Eddie Brown. 100 miles into the flight engine trouble forced it down at Lansdowne Field, Vancouver. A short hop to nearby Ladner Field resulted in the undercarriage being torn off, ending the whole venture. The aircraft is now preserved at the Owls Head Transportation Museum, Maine. Jenny Visser-Hooft was a Dutch traveller, mountaineer, and writer. Her husband pictured her before a flight over the volcanoes near Bandung. Aircraft should be FC-417T as this is believed to be the sole NEI army air service C.IV converted to transport, with a T added to the serial. Original Fokker C.IV preserved airworthy in the colours applied for an intended trans Pacific flight.

1923-built Fokker C.IV converted to passenger role for a planned trans-pacific flight but it was damaged on take-off. Named "Pacific Era" and the intended route is marked on fuselage sides. Ex NR439.
