T9583 was built in Australia for the RAF in Singapore. Singapore fell to the Japanese before it could be delivered and it was delivered to the RAAF as A9-31. 100 Squadron RAF, which was the intended recipient, evolved into 100 Squadron RAAF and was deployed to Papua New Guinea. T9583 was lost in a crash landing at Port Moresby on June 25, 1942 when returning from a mission. The RAAF serial does appear to have been applied to the aircraft during its brief service.
