At its peak in January 1970, the Luftwaffe fleet consisted of 310 G.91 R/3 and 40 G.91T aircraft. However, the Luftwaffe was always rather disappointed by the type's perfomance and so they were gradually replaced by the Dassault/Dornier Alpha Jet. The last G.91 aircraft was officially retired in 1982. This restored nose section is on display at the Luftfahrt- und Technik-Museumspark Merseburg.

This Il-62 was registered to Interflug in March 1971 but served for the latter part of its time with the airline as a ground trainer at SXF. After retirement it was converted to a restaurant at Groß Manchow but had been dismantled and moved to the Luftfahrt und Technik Museumspark Merseburg by the Spring of 2003. Note the silver band around the fuselage, just forward of the engines, this is where the entire tail section was sawed off to facilitate the transport to Merseburg.

This plane was built in December 1969 and joined the East German AF as '177' Around Nov./Dec. it became DM-SCZ and was to be exported to South Yemen but the deal collapsed and the plane joined Interflug instead. This plane was built in December 1969 and joined the East German AF as '177' Around Nov./Dec. it became DM-SCZ and was to be exported to South Yemen but the deal collapsed and the plane joined Interflug instead.
