Delivered to the USAF in Dec 1953 as an SA-16A. Transferred to the Coast Guard in Feb 1959 as 7251 and redesignated to UF-1G. Converted to the long-winged UF-2G, and redesginated to HU-16E in Sep 1962. Came to the Texas Museum of Military History (now the Dyess Linear Air Park) in 1982.

This C-47 was allocated to the USAAF as 42-108808, but it never served as such. Instead, it was immediately transferred to the US Navy as BuNo 17106. After a civil career with the FAA and the US Department of Agriculture, it was delivered to Dyess AFB in 1986. It was initially displayed there as USAAF 42-108808, but in 2011 it was painted in these false "Jungle Skippers" markings as "43-15460". During WW2 the "Jungle Skippers" name was adopted by the men of the 317th Troop Carrier Group, after it was given to them in a World War II news article.

A very early Caribou in USAF markings. This aircraft was delivered to the US Army in Dec 1959, and transferred to the USAF in Jan 1967. Starting in 1975 the Air Force operated it for the US Army as the support aircraft for the US Army Golden Knights parachute team. In Mar 1980 it was returned to the US Army, and continued to serve for the Golden Knights until 1985. On 2 May 1992 this Caribou was officially dedicated as part of the Dyess Linear Air Park. It was previously incorrectly painted as 58-082, but now only carries some strange "AF58-0" remnants of that on the tail. On the other side it only carries "82" below the TD code.

This very early C-130 was delivered to the 463rd Troop Carrier Wing at Ardmore AFB (OK) on 9 Dec 1956.

This aircraft was delivered on 5 Nov 1954 as a B-57B. It was later converted to EB-57B, an electronic warfare version that was unofficially nicknamed the "Night Intruder". It retired from service on 3 Dec 1981, and came to Dyess AFB for display two years later. This Canberra's true identity is ex USAF 52-1504, and it was initially displayed as such. But in 2022 it was falsely painted as "52-1534", an aircraft that crashed near Laredo, TX on 29 Nov 1955.

USAAF 44-35913 was delivered on 19 Jul 1945, and struck off charge in Apr 1958, becoming N3522G. It was converted to On Mark Marketeer executive aircraft and re-delivered as such in 1961 to Western Contracting Corp, becoming N303WC. In the 1970s it served as an executive aircraft for Texas Instruments, and on 28 Nov 1978 it was registered to Guy Counselman (Topeka, KS). He restored it to regular Invader configuration and owned it until 1984, when it was acquired by the USAF Museum. It was loaned to the Texas Museum of Military History at Dyess AFB, which in Jun 1991 became the Dyess Linear Air Park.

Delivered to the Air Force on 8 Dec 1955, and retired in Jul 1978. This Stratotanker carries its name only on the left side.

The serial "24120" is authentic for this aircraft, but it does not match the USAF markings because it's a US Navy serial. This EB-47E was delivered to the USAF on 21 Sep 1953 as 52-412 (tail number 20412), and used as an electronic test platform. It was transferred to the US Navy in 1965, where it became BuNo 24120 and was used in Electronic Counter Measure testing until retired from service in Dec 1977. The odd thing here is that BuNo 24120 had earlier already been used by a TBF-1.

Lockheed-Vega-built B-17G, delivered to the Air Force on 31 Mar 1945 as 44-85599. Converted to DB-17G/DB-17P Drone Director in the early 1950s, and served as such until retired in Aug 1959. Flown to Abilene Municipal Airport for display in Oct 1960, and moved to nearby Dyess AFB in 1975 for restoration and display. The aircraft was later restored to B-17G configuration (with gun turrets) and falsely painted as 42-38133 "The Reluctant Dragon", as seen here. It represents a 96th Bomb Group aircraft that was lost in action on 5 Dec 1944.

Last used at Dyess AFB as a GC-130E ground trainer since about 1998 and transferred to the Linear Air Park in Jan 2004.

A nice collection of badges on this very early B-1B. They are all the units and squadrons that have flown the B-1 from Dyess AFB.

The first operational B-1B to be accepted by SAC, delivered on 7 Jul 1985. It made its last flight on 1 Mar 2003, and was moved to the Linear Air Park a short time later. On the forward fuselage it carries the badges of all the units and squadrons that have flown the B-1 from Dyess AFB.

This F-16A is a recent addition to the Dyess Linear Air Park, having joined the collection in Sep 2023. It is seen here parked at a temporary location and remains under restoration, still unpainted. Previously, this aircraft was on static display at Terre Haute Regional Airport in Indiana, where it had been since 2014. It will eventually be repainted in the markings of a Texas ANG or AFRC aircraft.
