42-92396 rolled out December 23, 1943 and was delivered to the RCAF as FZ635 on January 15, 1944. Quickly struck off strength post war on December 5, 1945, it was put into Trans Canada Airline service (CF-TDZ) that lasted from May 1946 to January 1961. Canada's Department of Transport then took it over (CF-DTV) and it remained with them until sold to Millardair (C-FDTV) in1975. After Millardair ceased flight operations in 1990, the registration was cancelled in September 1991. Later to California-Pacifico registered XA-RZF and XA-UDY.

Delivered to Trans-Canada Airlines March 8, 1958, Air Canada retired this Viscount in April 1973 to Winnipeg, MB for storage. It became one of the two dozen Viscounts sold to Beaver Enterprises a year later. Sold to Zaire Aero Service in September 1978, the airliner ferried to East Midlands for service by Field Aircraft Services before delivery as 9Q-CPD. It was involved in a non-fatal accident when it crashed into a swamp on take-off at Kinshasa on August 28, 1984 and written off.

In 1968 Martinair bought two DC-8-55Fs from Overseas National Airways. Transatlantic leisure charter flights had begun in 1967 and PH-MAS is pictured on one of those from Amsterdam. Also used for freight charters, the aircraft was sold back to McDonnell Douglas in January 1977. Leased to KLM for the summer, it was sold to Aviaco as EC-DBE in October 1977.

This has to be the first of the long fuselage Merlin/Metro II family and here visiting Perimeter Aviation while on a sales tour. Early Merlin IV are notable in that they have round windows. Later they had the 'curvy rectangular' ones as per the Metro II for production commonality. The registration N5291M was later used on c/n TC-202E and maybe it is this same airframe as the 'E' indicates a switch from Merlin to Metro on the line. Since TC-001E would have looked odd plus it would need major work to change the windows, maybe they went to the later number '202'. Just a theory.
